I am still at home today. Ruby is fine but she has no stereo/backup camera. I have tried everything, I think.
another bad thing about everything not working is I have no backup camera and I did not know
how much I depended on that camera until I had to back up without one. umm, it sux!
The problem started when I had the Brake actuator installed again this time. When I had it fixed in 2018,
it absolutely did not happen then. I was way different then. I did not know exactly what it was
I heard this pump turning on a lot. I remember this one guy asked me when he was sitting next to me
in the shotgun seat what it was, I said I dunno. I didn’t, I remember taking back then to the Stealership
and they charged me $69.00 to tell me what I already knew, they told me they could fix it for some astronomical
price. I was like “naw, I am good” I found a hybrid repair place and they took out the old and put in the new
part for $999.00 plus tax I think which was a way better price than the Toyota Dealership quoted me.
Anyway at that time the brakes were it was giving me some codes AND a loud audible alarm was sounding.
When I called the hybrid place, it was way past dark and this dude picked up the phone. I told him about
my problem and gave him those codes and he immediately knew what was wrong. Then he told me how much it was going
to cost to fix it labor included and I was like dang for real. He was like yeah, that’s an expensive repair.
This time when I saw it, the brakes got hard, and the same lights were on the dashboard but there was no audible alarm.
which was cool because that shit was super annoying. I tried clearing the codes and looking online, but when I told the guy who fixed
it about the noise he told me the only way to silence that noise, was to repair the actual problem. Anyway, back to my current problem(s)
lol. I searched around eBay and found a few units like mine and to get that entire unit uses they want $500.00 bux. So I kept looking.
I reached out to 5 star stereo installations
after seeing their work on youtube, I thought these people are good and then he asked the device he was installing, what the weather
was to test it, the device spoke back that the weather in Clearwater will be blah, blah, blah so I was like “that is Pinellas
County, Florida I go there all the time. I called them today and I spoke to a dude named Pual and he told me it would cost
$1400.00 I was like “Okay thanks I’ll be in touch” I was prepared to go up to $900.00 but that was way too much. So I guess I will just go the eBay route.
and do it myself. There are a lot of conversions to newer units for $200 but with a lot of those you have to also get a dash kit, and the wire harness
has to be a good one, and there were cables that need to run, and I do not feel confident doing all that. I just want everything to work.
If I am doing it myself, I just want to slide out the old one, and plug in some cables and slide the new one in. So I have a few in my watched items
on eBay I will go there and “pill the trigger” on one after this blog post. I figure it won’t get to me probably until next week sometime
so I will order from Amazon a speaker to plug into my MP3 player, and get it overnighted and ill drive for Uber on Saturday.
