I have forgotten to post for the past several nights because I have not been driving. I did not drive on Wednesday because
I did not sleep at all until about 8:30 AM on Wednesday morning. When that happens I don’t drive that day. On Thursday
I was in Pinellas County at the gas station and when I left, I was on my way to Chipotle and I heard a vibration in the rear,
when I got to Chipotle, I checked and my left rear tire was flat. I used the small air compressor to inflate it, I was hoping
enough to get home. When I got on the Manatee County side of the Skyway, I pulled into the rest area and tried to inflate it again
and it takes like 10 minutes to inflate so I was in the car and I heard a loud bang and it was that tire, it is now beyond repair
again. So I called Triple A because I hate using that scissor jack and lug wrench. They came out in like 15 minutes and like always,
they had a floor jack and an impact wrench. It took them 10 minutes to change the tire, they put my spare on and I went to Walmart
and after-tax this time it cost 110.XX and I told them I put all 4 brand new tires on this car on May 30th, 2023 and 10 days later,
the front right tire went flat and now I am back here again on 07132023 again to replace the back left tire. I told them I only have
1 more contact with triple a left this year. Then today I picked up 2 ladies from Coconut Charlie’s on St. Pete Beach and I always forget that
I bottom out on the way out, this time, I bottomed out on the rear and I didn’t realize it until I was on I 75 South, but it broke off a plastic
piece that held the right rear bumper cover on and it was flapping like it was going to come off. I had to pull over and all I had was electrical tape
to hold it until I got home.
Today I completed 3 trips. I earned a little under $105.00.
The best part about the 4th of July this year is that it is
on a Tuesday which I normally don’t drive for Uber. This year is a little
different. Tomorrow, July 5th 2023 I am not driving for Uber so Ruby is parked
and will stay parked. Well tomorrow I got to take my mother to have her blood
checked which is like 5 maybe 10 minutes each way. But after that, I don’t
have to drive at all.
Today I completed a total of 3 rides. I earned a little under $80.00. I overheard these two women
talking in the back seat, and I gathered that they were both teachers. When I was in school (A long time ago) I didn’t realize
how important teachers are. Cops also, I go out of my way to stay away from cops just because they are people
too and make mistakes, and I do not want to be one of their mistakes. They are very powerful and have the ability
to arrest, and that is very powerful, they are limited yes, but if you resemble a person that just committed a felony.
you are getting a set of bracelets, and they will ask questions later. Teachers are awesome because we trust them with our kids and that is HUGE. Cops
are awesome too but they can also be very bad. Teachers also can be very bad. But when there is someone doing something nasty
what do people do ALL the time, call 911. Then who has to deal with that? The cops. I don’t want to deal with pretty much anyone
at all, but the cops have to deal with the absolute nastiest people all the time, and they need to deal with dead people, dead kids
they have to deal with THE WORST OF THE WORST, ALL THE TIME. Anyway, these teachers were going to the Dali museum in Down Town St. Petersburg
so I got to talking to them, and told them a couple places that are really awesome to eat at. Someone had already told them
about Cassis Saint Petersburg and Parkshore Grill. Which I have not been to, but I have heard really good things about Parkshore
So I dropped them off at the museum and they went about their business and I went about mine. Then several minutes later
a tip came through for just over 4 dollars and 25 cents. Which is nothing in the big scheme of things, but the point is
to talk to all of your passengers about anything that comes to mind. I talk to all my passengers like they are someone else’s
kids. Kids that live with you tend to get treated more abrasively. I do not pretend to have all of the answers to anything
but if it were me in the back seat (which it often is) I just would want to be treated like, someone next to me, on a plane, or a
bus, or a train. Sometimes people don’t want to talk (like me) but I try to be as cool as possible with my riders. All of them.
Yes even the ones that leave me a 1 star rating, often that 1 star rating was decided on before the rider ever got in your vehicle.
If people don’t talk to me, I do not talk to them unless I hear something that interest me. then I will butt in and ask them, but then I shut up lol.
Today the Uber app says that I completed 3 trips and I made a little over $45 bux. The simple fact of the matter is that it is cheaper all the way around. If I drive close to home the gas and fuel it is will save me is significant. The amount of time that I spend not at this computer cost me dearly also. If I am going to keep on driving Ruby, I need to drive less. I will look into the exact mileage it takes me to get there and back home, plus tolls, and exactly how much it cost me to drive there all the time. Today for the first time ever, the front left U.S. driver’s side blinker light went out. I noticed right away because I already looked up how to change it, and have ordered 2 new led lights for them. So Tuesday (I am driving this Monday) I will jack up the car and replace the bad one first probably and then the other. They were like 17 bux delivered the next day from Amazon.com of course, I love that site.
Today it was an Oil Change Friday, I took a single trip to Tampa and I earned like 28 bux on that trip and one of the trips from yesterday I was tipped heavy on (I consider anything over $10.00 to be a heavy tip on Uber) a lot of other people are like huh? $10.00 that is like nothing! Which is true, but at the moment, it is paying part of the bills. I got that around 1pm so I just felt like going home, so I did. So all together today I earned just over $40.00 which isn’t much, but I can work with it. I figure being in that car driving is taking away from time that I should be spending on creating content so I can sell that content, or upload it, or whatever I can do to make some real money, because Uber driving is horrible money. Even if you drive for Uber or Lyft on top of a job or retirement money. It can be decent only on occasion though.
I am still unable to drive for Uber since and because of the accident
that happened on 03252023. Today was the last day for me to have a rental car from Progressive.
I took it back and picked up a 2020 Chevy Malibu. I like it better than the Mustang. It too is a gas guzzler
too. It said on the interstate, I was getting 24.4 MPG. I am very lucky to have it either way.
Oh yea, I forgot to say on here, that the Mustang only does car play over a hard wire, this Malibu
is pretty much the same way. The Malibu is completely hard top so it is much quieter though.
directly under where the radio is there is a female USB A port. With the Mustang I could see it
and with the Malibu, I actually have to look under there, With the Malibu you definitely have to be completely
stopped to use them. There is also an interface in the Mailibu for an aux device which on the Mustang there is not.
I am still unable to drive for Uber since
The accident on 03/2/2023. Tomorrow is the last day from the Rental car for me the plan is to drop off the Rental @Maher collision center
and pick up the courtesy loaner I will have until 05/11/2023. I found and purchased a new screen for my Bile plus it was $117.00 shipped that new ones on there for like $210.00 shipped. I don’t have new kind of money. So that will arrive sometime Monday and I will install (I have all ready watch a video on it) it’s two 4 MM screws, shouldn’t be too bad.
I just got off the phone with my P.I. lawyer.
He told me that I have no UM coverage on this case.
I do have UM coverage thru Progressive personally but it only covers
me while I am on my way to pick up a passenger. Once they get in my
car, there is no UM coverage. Meanwhile, I have been going through
treatment related to this accident, and since this accident,
I have also been unable to work because of my injuries and
the damage done to my car in this accident. If you look at the actual police report
it says on there that the person that hit me has no auto coverage.
She said at the scene that she did have insurance but her phone screen was broken
so no one could verify that she did have coverage. She did not get cited for anything.
They put her in the number 1 spot on their report so if she did not get in any trouble,
that is fine by me. It turns out that she does have coverage through The General Insurance.
The General Insurance only sells the absolute minimum coverage possible. So the only coverage
she has will pay for her Personal Injury Protection and my deductible. I have Uber driver insurance that
pays for my medical bills only (my saving grace) it does not provide any type
of pain and suffering payment, so my P.I. Attorney said he is closing my file lol.
The Uber Auto insurance now is also the absolute minimum that they require in Florida by law.
They do provide (Uber insurance) 5K for the driver’s medical expenses.
So because I don’t have the money for a $2500.00 deductible, I opted to get everything
done through my own personal policy that has a $1000.00 deductible. Because of that
I don’t have any PIP insurance either. The only insurance that I have personally here
is the Uber driver insurance and they subtract like 4 cents per mile that I drive
and it only covers me as the driver when I am online via the Uber platform.
If I did not have that coverage, I would only have the $5000.00 to pay for my medical bills. I was rear-ended by a passenger in the car in 2019 and Uber had $250,000.00 of UM coverage
and a $1000.00 deductible. Now they have this huge $2500.00 deductible and no UM coverage at all.
So if a driver gets in an accident, there is no coverage for the driver. The passengers are
covered for up to 1 million in expenses, the driver though is not covered at all.
