A lot of people just think that because they drive everyday or all the time that Rideshare driving for Uber or Lyft is easy. If the driver and their vehicle pass Uber’s background check and are on their approved list for vehicles then you should be a go. There is no interview process and if you are able to “jump through” all of their hoops , then the actual onboarding process is way faster and easier than getting a job. The cool thing about rideshare driving for Uber or Lyft that is so attractive is that you can literally turn the application on and drive when it is convenient for you. The thought of being your own boss is cool also. The working whenever you want thing is basically your pay. Because the actual income from rideshare driving is horrible after you pay all of your expenses. Your boss is NOT yourself, your boss is the passenger, so instead of having a single boss you now have several bosses. You will have the greatest conversation with them, and you as a driver will think it’s all good and they will leave you a 1 star rating. Sometimes they will tip you and leave you a 1 star rating too so you have no idea who actually did it or why. Sometimes they will leave you feedback and sometimes they will not. The experience you have with each passenger is a crapshoot because it is subjective and you are dealing with humans. If they just got fired, or just saw their spouse cheating, or a divorce was just announced, or if they’re late, even when it’s their fault, it gets taken out on the driver.
NEVER talk with passengers about the BIG 3 topics – they are Politics, Religion, and Sex. If you follow this rule, it will never fail you. Listen closely and control every conversation between you and your passengers.
